Deleted Your Asset or File from Unity? Now Recover it!

OHNOOOOOOOoooooo…..

(Head on table)…  I actually needed that piece of my Unity project which I just deleted…

Sound familiar?   Don’t give up hope!                                                                                                                   If you act carefully, there’s possibly a way to easily recover that deleted item!

(Note: Instructions are for Windows users.)

First: inside the Project pane,                                                                                                                            Right-click the folder which previously held your (now deleted) item.

Then click on the “Show in Explorer” menu option.

Then you’re Explorer window will pop-up. Click the folder where your asset was saved, and after it opens, right-click anywhere.

Click “Undo Delete” from the menu, (above).   Look (below) your file has re-appeared!

(Open up Unity and you’ll see it re-add the asset to your project!)

TA DA!  😀

(Repeat the “Undo Delete” steps in the Explorer window, if you’ve deleted multiple files.)

Hope this Unity3d.Expert solution has saved your day!

Now to setup a back-up system! I personally use EaseUs ToDo Backup (free version). I set it to a schedule to run once or twice an hour during my wake/working hours. 😀

actually i did exactly this steps. but when i pressed ‘ undo delete’ it did no thing and does not restore anything .
so i did right click again and it pressed ‘redo delete’ by mistake.
is there any solution of this.
i had restored all the changes in collab history and i found that all assets was deleted .and the project is really big one that i worked on it about 6 month , will be really grateful if you help me

If you “redo delete”, you can still right click and again select “Undo Delete”.
If the first “Undo Delete” doesn’t work, right-click again and continue selecting “Undo Delete”. This will go back another step, and may help you get the files you need.
      Good Luck,
      Keep on Creating,
And it’s time for a backup of the project to be implemented.

Thank you so much I accidentally deleted my most important file with main scripts. I didn’t even know it was this easy to recover them!
